MONTHLY MIXTAPE: JUNE 2024

How are we basically 7 months into the year now with July starting?! Time is flying so fast. Anyways, this month, there were a lot of great releases and also a few songs from May that we enjoyed this month. In this blog, we have 14 songs to share that we loved throughout the month of June.
We decided to start ordering our monthly mixtape blogs from our most played/favourite songs to least played (but still a favourite since it made the blog).
Let’s get started…
Release Date: June 13th, 2024
JUNNY had a comeback this month with the release of his EP d*opamine.* It was 100% a no-skip EP and we loved every single song. However, our most replayed song on the EP is “figure8” which is our number one song this month. This song is so beautiful and holds such a deep meaning. JUNNY’s production and lyricism never fail to amaze us.

Release Date: May 24th, 2024
We are big fans of NewJeans and this song is so catchy. We had it on repeat throughout the month and we love how fun and energetic this song is. Also love the cover art and the outfits the girls are wearing. The production on this song is very upbeat and mixes genres of K-pop, hip hop and dance a little bit.

Release Date: June 14th, 2024
The second we heard Junwav and cykim were collaborating on a song, we were so excited. We love both of their musical styles and this song “August Snow” is our favourite of theirs so far. It fits into the indie-rock genre which is one of our favourite genres. This song is so beautiful and the lyrics are so meaningful and sweet. If you like wave to earth’s style of music, we highly recommend you listen to this song.

Release Date: June 7th, 2014
Jung Kook’s music is always so good and “Never Let Go” was a surprise release that we loved this month. We normally don’t like music in the EDM (electronic dance music) genre, but we loved how Jung Kook mixed the genre into this song with his own style. The lyrics are also so catchy.

Release Date: May 22nd, 2024
We had never really listened to JUST B prior to this song, but we were scrolling on TikTok and JUST B posted a video of them dancing to this song we were hooked. This song is so catchy and it reminds us of our teenage years with 5SOS. It has a very nostalgic pop-rock vibe to it which is why we love it. The guitar production in this song is also so beautiful and it’s what drew us in.

We have been fans of DACEY since 2022 and our favourite song of all time is “Broccoli’s Keeper”. However, we think that “TAMED” is in tie with that song. It’s so amazing and catchy. The beginning with her saying “ah” is so fun and also the guitar goes crazy in this song. We love it so much and cannot wait to hear what else DACEY will release in the future.

MICO has such a diverse range of music genres/styles and he honestly does justice to every single genre. “HOMESICK” is one of his slower, but still in the indie-rock hype genre and it’s our new favourite song. It’s so amazing and the lyrics are so beautiful. MICO is so extremely talented and this song is just another song to prove that.

slchld is another artist we have been listening to since 2019 and we love all of his songs, but this album that he released this month titled APOLOGY is a huge no-skip. Every single song was great from start to finish and we love every song. However, “CARE” was a pre-release track so we have been listening to it the most and it’s definitely one of our favourite songs on the album (if we had to choose). We are also so excited to see slchld live in July on his APOLOGY North American Tour.

“Live My Life” is one of our favourite songs on aespa’s latest and first album titled *Armageddon.* They released a lot of fun, catchy and amazing songs on this album, but “Live My Life” was our most replayed song. We love the overall vibe to it and the meaning.

We discovered Griffy this month because of this song and we love his music so much. He did release a new song this month, but this one was our most played. He has such a unique style and voice. We are so excited to now follow him on his musical journey.

Release Date: May 28th, 2024
“Escape” is an OST (original television soundtrack) for the Korean drama Begins ≠ Youth which is based on the BTS universe. It’s such a cute and sweet song. We always love when JUNNY writes songs in this genre. Also love it has a indie-rock feel to it with the four on the floor drums and guitar. We have yet to watch this Korean drama as well, but we cannot wait to.

Release Date: May 9th, 2024
YOOK SUNGJAE is an artist we discovered in May with the release of this mini EP *EXHIBITION: Look Closely.* This was the song we liked from this EP. It’s a song that kind of has rock elements to it which we love and we think YOOK SUNGJAE’s voice suits this style of song.

“Fxxk you” is the fourth track on eldon’s EP *Can we be friends?.* This song is a slower one, but the lyrics are deep and I really love his vocals and the production on this song.

“Nerds Rope” is such a pretty song and I love this style of music. Avry is so talented and this song since it released earlier this week, it has been on repeat. With every release, Avry never fails to amaze us.
