MONTHLY MIXTAPE: SEPTEMBER 2024

September has already come to an end. We spent half of our September on vacation so, we didn’t have a lot of time to listen to new releases until today. Most of the September releases will probably make October’s monthly mixtape, but for now we have 12 songs to share with you. These 12 songs are ones we had on repeat during September. We will share each song in order from most played to least played (but still obviously made it to the recap).

Release Date: September 6, 2024
This song was by far our number one song this month. The whole EP play with earth! 0.03 was a no-skip, but we replayed this song so much. “annie.” is such an upbeat and powerful song. annie sounds like 아니 (ani) which is no in Korean. This song is basically telling you to say “no” to societal norms and to be your own person. This is stated throughout some of the lyrics like “No, I wanna stay / With no subtle change / No lies over me / No, I wouldn’t be ashamed / ‘Cause I already have / Everything for me”.
This song and the other songs on the EP makes us so excited to see wave to earth at the end of October!

We are so so excited that BAEKHYUN had a comeback! “Rendez-Vous” is track 3 on his 4th mini album Hello, World. Every song was amazing, but we played this song a lot throughout the month. It also was co-written by Royal Dive, Colde and JUNNY – who we love!!

Ever since we heard this song live at PRYVT’s Toronto show in June, we have been patiently, but impatiently waiting for its release. We are so happy it is finally out so we can listen to it. It’s such a beautiful song and deep. Also love the cover art for the song. We hope to see this song live again one day.

“Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden” has been on repeat ever since its initial release on June 7th, prior to the release of Valley’s album with the same title which came out on August 30th. After the album released, we had this song again on repeat again so knew we had to include it in this months mixtape. It’s such a beautiful and catchy song. Highly recommend listening to the whole album.

“Starry Night” was a pre-release title track for FIFTY FIFTY’s latest EP. We love this song so much because of how catchy it is. As well, the lyrics are really nice and the girls vocals are so beautiful. This song made us super excited for the release of their EP Love Tune which came out on September 20th.

“LOVE GAME” is track three on JAZZLAN’s latest EP SUNSETAPES. and is our favourite song. It’s a slow R&B with pop elements song and the lyrics are so beautiful. The song feels nostalgic to us and it definitely was a new side of JAZZLAN we haven’t heard, but we hope he makes more songs like this in the future.

“Sunlight!” was a pre-release track for elijah’s new EP Hey There Elijah which dropped on September 27th. We have been fans of elijah’s since his debut basically and his songs never miss. He is so diverse with his music and his lyrics are so relatable and nostalgic. This song is so beautiful and literally makes us feel like we are listening to it under sunlight. The whole EP as well was a no-skip one.

This song is a city pop and R&B style song which literally is such a vibe. The song feels very nostalgic to us with the city pop vibes and it also makes us feel like it would be the perfect soundtrack for a drama. The cover art is super cute too which fits the vibes of the song. We have been fans of YAØ for a while and this is definitely one of our new favourite songs of his.

“1-800-hot-n-fun” is track four on LE SSERAFIM’s newest EP *CRAZY.* This was our favourite song on the EP because of the title and how fun and catchy the song is. It’s a rock style song, but also has that hip-hop vibe to it.

“War” is a track on keshi’s newest album Requiem which released on September 13th. This song is a slower one on the album and it’s so beautiful. We love the emotions keshi shows throughout this song through his vocals and the lyrics. We love the whole album, but this song was one of our favourites.

Although this song just came out two days ago, we had the opportuity to listen to it prior to the release and we were so excited for this song to come out. It’s definitely one of our new favourite releases by Riccy DeLeon and we love that UM? is featured on it as well. This song is so catchy and definitely a summer bop. Both Riccy and UM?’s vocals and musical styles mesh really well together and we hope they make more songs like this together in the future.

“365” is a song on GEMINI’s latest EP *In too deep.* We absolutely love this EP and this song in particular because it’s a collaboration with JUNNY. GEMINI and JUNNY are two of our favourite artists so this collaboration really made us so happy.
