SYLO LIGHTS UP TORONTO'S THE GREAT HALL FOR "DREAM THAT I WAS" TOUR WITH NILO BLUES AND JOËL LOBBAN

On October 7th, 2024, Korean-Canadian singer Sylo performed in his hometown Toronto at The Great Hall with Toronto artists Nilo Blues and Joël Lobban. This show was the fifth stop on Sylo’s “Dreamt that I Was” North American Tour which started on September 26th in Washington. The final stop on this tour is in Los Angeles on October 29th.
The show kicked off at 8:00 PM with Nilo Blues energizing the crowd, performing his latest tracks like “Starfruit,” “Pileup,” and “Tune Out,” supported by Stefani Kimber on background vocals. He also performed fan favourites such as “letters to jenny,” “what it’s like,” and an acoustic rendition of “Nicotiana,” where Stefani accompanied him on guitar. Nilo captivated the audience with his warm vocals and impressive dance moves. We first saw him perform in July 2022 when he opened for GSoul, and since then, his stage presence and confidence have soared. We can’t wait to see him live again!

After Nilo Blues, Toronto artist Joël Lobban took the stage, joined by two background vocalists and a guitarist. Having not performed in years, it was a special experience to see him live and discover a new artist. We quickly became fans, thanks to his smooth vocals and meaningful lyricism. He performed every track from his latest EP, I Still Think About You, which was released in February. Our favourite performance was “Thinking About You.” We’re grateful to have had the chance to see Joël perform and hope he returns to the stage soon.

Sylo took the stage at 9 PM, opening with “Slow Down for a Minute,” the first track from his latest EP Dreamt that I Was. Throughout his set, he was joined by a guitarist and Evan Porter on saxophone and bass. From the new EP, he also performed “Fall Into Me,” “Miss It,” “Alaska,” “Babyboo,” and “Abyss,” alongside fan favourites like “So Familiar,” “Citrus,” and our personal favourite, “Millions.” For the encore, Sylo played his hits “Ginny” and “FOMO.”
His performance was incredible, and after waiting three years to see him live (since we missed his last show), it was so worth it. His stage presence was captivating, and his live vocals were as stunning as on his recordings. The band, especially the saxophone, brought extra vibrancy to the set, along with Sylo’s guitar playing.
Overall, it was an unforgettable night, and we couldn’t be prouder of Sylo. We’re excited to see what’s next for him!
