BNZA AND MELATONIN BOY'S FIRST HEADLINE SHOW

On April 23rd, EXPOSITION affiliated artists BNZA and melatonin boy performed at their first ever headline show at the Drake Underground in Toronto. This was an almost sold out show and a very successful and fun night. The show also had an opening performance by Toronto artist kennen who was accompanied by Lyle Kam on guitar.

The concert started at 8 PM with the opening act kennen, who performed for about 30 minutes. His set was so fun and he has such an amazing stage presence. He also is very sweet and bubbly on stage which made everyone in the crowd think he’s adorable. kennen also brought out a keytar for a few songs which was crazy and so cool to see because it made his performance so unique. Lyle Kam joining kennen on stage as the guitarist was so amazing because we are fans of Lyle as well, so it was really nice to see them together.

kennen performed his song “Timothée Chalamet” which has over 1.5 million streams on Spotify. Additionally, he performed his most popular song “1 2 365 4 Me” which has almost 2 million streams on Spotify. This has been our favourite song of kennen’s since we heard it in early 2022, so it was amazing to finally get to see it live and be able to sing along with him.

Overall, kennen did an amazing job and we cannot wait to see him perform on stage even more in the future.

At 8:45 PM, melatonin boy came on stage for his set, accompanied by EXPOSITION’s CEO/Co-Founder Aeon, who was playing the tracks. melatonin boy’s first performance was his latest single from March titled “we know it’s not, babe”. This is currently one of our favourite songs by melatonin boy, so it was amazing to finally be able to see it live. Additionally, the crowd loved it as well.

melatonin boy also performed some unreleased songs and our favourite one was “breathe” which is a song on his upcoming EP could u call me tonight which is releasing on May 5th. Make sure to follow melatonin boy on Instagram to stay up to date with the release of that EP!

melatonin boy also performed the aleebi remix version of his song “dirty af1s”. We loved this performance because as a joke, he transitioned into this song using “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift before he started singing the actual “drity af1s” song. Additionally, melatonin boy did a cover of “Cupid – Twin Ver.” by the South Korean pop girl group FIFTY FIFTY and this was a crowd pleaser.

Overall, he did an amazing job and he was super engaging with the crowd and had such a sweet but shy personality. We also had the chance to interview melatonin boy before the show, so stay tuned for that article.

BNZA came on at 9:30 PM and his performance was insane! The crowd all moved up close to the stage and everyone was dancing and just having a lovely time. BNZA’s stage presence is so energetic and he is so confident on stage. He performed two of our favourite songs; “SLIDE” which was released in July 2020 and has over 1 million streams on Spotify and he performed “SELFISH” which is his latest single from March.

One thing we loved about BNZA’s set was that he asked some of the crowd to come up on stage to dance with him and we think it was just such a wholesome moment. BNZA’s DJ was also amazing and really hyped up the crowd, especially when BNZA got off stage and the crowd was chanting for an encore.

Also wanted to mention that the crowd went absolutely nuts when BNZA took off his shirt, which again was so fun to see his confidence really shine on stage. Overall, the night was so fun and memorable and BNZA was so sweet when we met him.
