Today at midnight EST, Theo White and Grace Turner of the Toronto based duo City Builders and Toronto based singer, songwriter and engineer, Anthony Yordanov, known by his artist name City Stranger, released their first collaboration single “Ashes”. “Ashes” is a dreamy song that tells a story of the doubts and questions that flood one’s mind.

When asked about the meaning of “Ashes”, City Stranger and City Builders say, “The intro melody and chord progression actually came in a dream. I (Anthony) went to my balcony and started writing stream of consciousness about recently ditching my bad habits and feeling rejuvenated by the sun and when we got to the studio we put the two together. Then Grace and Theo wrote their parts while we built the beat. I think it’s a song about going into the deep end and having to swim back against the current – finding solace in nature. “Ashes” is a blend of Indie-Electronic and Experimental Pop. The song ranges from “acoustic voice and guitar, to hard-hitting drum, to an epic final chorus”.
