Welcome to my first post about hip-hop/rap artists. Personally, hip-hop and rap music are very hit or miss for me, which is why I haven’t done an article about this genre yet. So, if you have any recommendations for artists that I can feature in the future, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page. However, in this article I am sharing 4 artists with you who have below 100K monthly listeners but, have so much potential and I liked their music.
So let’s get started…

Ethan Torrance is an up and coming hip-hop rapper from Toronto, Canada. Ethan released his first single “Prologue” in May 2020, followed by the release of “F**kup” in August 2020. This song has an accompanying music video that actually earned a nomination for “Best Hip-Hop Music Video” at the Canadian Independent Music Video Awards in 2021. Following the release of “F**kup”, Ethan released his debut EP Monsoon Season. This album consists of seven songs that feature production from Canadian hitmakers such as prettyboyron and Curtis Waters.
Ethan Torrance’s headline show in March 2022 was at Lee’s Palace in Toronto. He also opened for R&B singer Kofi at a show called The DOTBOX at El Mocambo in Toronto in July 2022. Also in July 2022, Ethan released his single “patrick wilson” which is his most popular song if over 29K streams. Recently, Ethan dropped his first single of 2023 titled “Randy Jackson Sword” which is a collaboration with Toronto based music producer Lucy Low. Definitely check out Ethan Torrance, especially if you are fans of Run the Jewels or Cordae.

LeekBITE is a rapper from Kansas City, Missouri. He released his first single “Pish Posh” to digital streaming platforms in September 2019. “Pish Posh” is currently his most popular song of over 10K streams. Additionally, he also released a music video for this song which gained over 22K views. All of LeekBITE’s songs have energetic beats and catchy hooks. On December 30, 2022, LeekBITE released his single “Run It Up” which is a collaboration with Korean-American rapper Ted Park. “Run It Up” was the pre-release single for LeekBITE’s first album No Love Lost which came out on February 14th.
The album consists of 8 songs and includes collaborations with other artists such as; LilTuley, RupMainey and more. Hopefully in 2023, we get some more music from LeekBITE.

DvblM (pronounced Double M) is a rapper, singer and songwriter from Toronto, Canada. DvblM released her first single “TAXIN‘” to digital streaming platforms in July 2021. Followed by her debut single, she released the single “90’s Baby” featuring UK rapper/producer Tre Mission. “90’s Baby” is her most popular song of 46K streams.
In 2022, DvblM released four singles; “Detroit Flow Freestyle“, “The People’s Champ“, “Who’s Next?” and “ARSON“. On February 3rd, she released her first single of 2023 titled “B.G.A” which is how I discovered her. This song is currently featured in Spotify’s curated playlist “Northern Bars” – a playlist dedicated to Hip-Hop music in Canada.

Ashton is a rapper from Mississauga, Canada. He released his first single “After Sunset” on March 2, 2017. “After Sunset” is a collaboration with Canadian singer FRVRFRIDAY. Followed by that release, he released his debut album **Good Company in July 2017. This album includes 8 songs. In November 2018, Ashton released his single “South X Southwest” which is his most popular song of 52.3K streams.
Ashton has released many singles throughout 2019-2022. On June 3, 2022 he released his second album titled Sauga City Slasher. His latest release is “Sayonara” which was released on February 24. This is the song that I discovered him by because it’s currently featured in Spotify’s playlist “Northern Bars”.
