Keshi is an Asian-American artist dominating the world with his silky, soft vocals and musical production. He is an artist that a lot of people look up to. Specifically, Asians because Keshi is one of the biggest Asian representations in Western music. I personally love Keshi a lot and I’m always on the hunt for underrated artists with a similar sound. As well, I am all about supporting my fellow Asian community so in this article, I will share 9 Asian artists that I love and I think you will love too.

birdtunes is a singer and songwriter from The Bay Area in California. He started making music in August 2019 with the song “Won’t You Stay”. His first release on Spotify was in May 2020 with “Won’t You Stay” and “Talk”. birdtunes blew up after February 2022 with the release of his single “Doing Fine”, which also happens to be my favourite song by him. I started listening to birdtunes because of a Spotify curated playlist that featured him. His voice is really sweet and his music is soft and silky. Additionally, he released a new song on February 6 titled “Drive”. He currently has 145K monthly listeners so, I am excited to see how much he can grow this year.

MIHN is an artist I found in the “Fans also like” section under the Spotify profile of bixby (artist 5). MINH is super underrated with his 2K monthly listeners. He started making music in August 2022 with the song “Anymore”, which has 39.8K streams. In October 2022, he released another single titled “One of You”. There isn’t much information about MIHN but really looking forward to see what other music he releases in the future.

asumuh is another artist I discovered through “Fans also like this” (I just don’t remember which artist profile I was on). asumuh is a 15 year old independent Vietnamese-American artist based in California. When I found out his age, I was shocked because this kid is literally so talented and he’s going places for real. His voice is so light and airy and his production for his songs are so relaxing and soft. He started posting music to Spotify in January 2022 with the release of “fell for you”. Since then, he has grown to have 50K monthly listeners. My favourite song by asumuh is “Happy Exists”.

milo. is an American singer with 10.8K monthly listeners. I couldn’t find much information about him but, he started posting to digital streaming platforms in April 2019 with the song “Hera”. I really love his music and I specifically love his collaborations with Chrmng, a band from Bangladesh (that I am now a fan of). I discovered milo. through the song DOSHTI, which is such a calming song and his voice just really suits this style of song. I also really liked his song “Idontwannaleave.” which was released in July 2019.

bixby is a singer with over 200K monthly listeners. He started releasing music in September 2020 with the single “the grass is always greener on the other side.” I started listening to him fairly recently because of the song “easy” which was released in October 2022 and slowly, bixby has become an artist I really enjoy listening to. His most popular song of 3.8 million streams is titled “endlessly” and was released in December 2021. The production of each song layered with his vocals, just create such a calm and cozy space. He definitely will become really big, especially since he is already being featured in Spotify curated playlists such as; Bedroom Pop, Lorem and idk. Additionally, bixby also directed the music video for “Anymore” by MIHN (artist 2).

Evan Liu, known by his artist name of “bxbykuni” is a Chinese-American singer-songwriter based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He started releasing music to digital streaming platforms in September 2022 with his debut single “friendly in me”. As time goes on, you can really see his musical style change and grow. His most popular song of 14K streams is “back2me” which was released in October 2022. This song is really cool because it has a glitch vocal effect that makes it sound like it’s in a video game. However, my personal favourite song by bxbykuni is “right person wrong time” which was released in November 2022. This song particularly reminded me of Keshi and other similar song styles that I love.

Hojean is a Korean-American singer-songwriter based in Atlanta, USA. He started releasing music in March 2017 with the single “Small Room”. In September 2017, Hojean wrote the song “My Love”, and used a free beat he found on YouTube. In 2018, famous YouTuber Connor Franta featured this song on “Common Culture 8” playlist. Since then, Hojean has grown a lot. In March 2020, Hojean released the song “Over 85” which is now his most popular song of 21.6 million streams and also the song that got me listening to him. On December 28, 2022 he released his first album titled ****Swing. Additionally, he recently signed to TBA Agency.

Takayoshi is a half Japanese, half Chinese independent singer-songwriter. He also produces, mixes and masters all of his songs. He started posting music to digital streaming platforms in July 2020 with his single “tree house”. Since then, he has posted a lot of music and grown a lot in monthly listeners (he currently has 400K). His most popular song of 2.6 million streams “on ur mind” was released in January 2022. He also just released a new song on January 6 titled “apart of me”. My personal favourite song of Takayoshi is “things i’d never say” which was released in December 2021.
