Wave To Earth is a South Korean indie-pop based band consisting of; Daniel Kim (singer-songwriter), Dong Kyu Shin (drummer) and John Cha (bassist). Their sound is a blend of indie-pop, soft-rock, lofi and jazzy style drumming. They have gained a lot of attention in the past year, especially for their song “seasons” which is very popular on TikTok.
We have been listening to wave to earth since 2019 and we absolutely love indie-pop music. In this blog, we will share 6 artists who have similar vibes to wave to earth. We hope you find yourself liking at least one or all of these artists.

4BOUT is a South Korean singer, songwriter and producer with around 27K monthly listeners on Spotify. He debuted on December 7th, 2018 with the single “It Has To Be You” which was an OST (original soundtrack) for the Korean drama SKY Castle. This song garnered over 2.6 million streams on Spotify alone.
In September 2019, 4BOUT released his first official song for himself titled “Wither” followed by “DIVE” in November. He started 2020 off with the release of “Aching” which gained over 1 million Spotify streams. On March 9th, 2020, 4BOUT released his debut EP Miserable which tells the story of “incomplete love reliant on others” (Source: Spotify Artist Profile). On November 24th, he released his first album Fortunate Islands Part.1 – Entrance which is a journey to find the beginning of happiness and depression. Followed by that album, he released Fortunate Islands Pt.2 – Exit in December.
4BOUT released quite a few singles throughout 2021. In 2022, he released three EPs; ANGER in January, EROS in March and CHILDHOOD in April. Ending 2022 with the release of his second album OMNIBUS.
We did not start listening to 4BOUT until this year with the release of his single “Manboy” which came out in September. We instantly fell in love with the vibes of this song and have become fans of him since. His latest release is from October 28th for the single “Wash Away”.
We cannot wait for what other music 4BOUT will release during the rest of the year and in 2024.

Joaquin Carandang, also known by his artist name WIMY (When I Met You) is a Filipino-Canadian indie-pop/bedroom pop singer based in Toronto and under the BAD KIDS collective. He made his debut on April 21st, 2023 with the single “Sky Between The Trees”. Since then, he has garnered over 1 million listeners on Spotify.
On August 11th, WIMY released his second single “Hideaway” followed by “Anybody” with shae on August 18th. “Anybody” gained over 3.5 million streams on Spotify and charted in the playlist “Viral 50 – Philippines” and more.
In September, WIMY released “fall for me”, followed by “pages” in October 27th. “pages” currently has almost 3 million streams and is featured in the Spotify playlists; “Lagi Viral”, “Thiên Hạ Nghe Gì”, “Viral 50 – Vietnam” and more.
WIMY’s latest release is from yesterday (November 24th) for the single “take a chance”. With WIMY charting playlists and gaining so many streams, we are so excited to see what the future holds for him.

MINOVA is an indie singer-songwriter, producer and performer based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates with family heritage rooted in Arabia and the Philippines. She has around 255K monthly listeners on Spotify. She has been making music since she was 15, but she debuted on digital streaming platforms on April 7th, 2022 with the single “Sanity” which is in collaboration with Yajin.
On January 27th, 2023, she released the single “I Miss You So” which has garnered over 3.7 million streams on Spotify alone. A month later, she released the single “If You Were Mine” which is another one of her popular songs with a little over 1 million streams.
Her latest single “Where Do I Go” was released on October 27th. MINOVA currently only has 4 singles out, but she is gaining so many streams and even charting in playlists such as; “indie pop & chill”, “Lorem”, “All New Indie” and more.

Schoolgirl Byebye is an indie rock band from China with 96K monthly listeners. The band formed in 2015 and consists of the couple Yang Yu and Geng Shengzai. They debuted on April 12th, 2016 with the single “I Am so Rock ‘n’ Roll Right Now”.
They didn’t release any music after that single until September 2018 when they released “Dog Person”. They ended 2018 with their debut album No Romantics in China.
On January 2nd, 2020, they released the single “傍晚去太子湾吗” which is one of their popular songs with over 1.2 million streams on Spotify. They ended 2020 with the release of their EP 愛是. This EP features their other two popular songs “海邊旅館一夜” with 2.1 million streams and “愛是” with almost 2 million streams.
They continued to release music throughout 2021 and 2022. Their latest release is from October 14th, 2023 for their EP 一年后.

orange flavored cigarettes is a Korean indie rock band that infuses elements of funk and psychedelic sounds. They currently have around 42K monthly listeners on Spotify. They debuted on August 19th, 2021 with the single “orange flavored cigarettes” which is their most popular song with over 570K streams on Spotify.
In January 2022, they released their second single “noah” which has around 170K streams. “noah” was a pre-release track for their debut EP life goes on which came out in March 2022. Followed by their EP, they released two more singles “te amo” in May and “cosmopolitan” in July. These singles wrapped an era for them.
They started a new era in September 2022 with the release of “pepper”. In 2023, they have only released one single “melting tides” in July. Hopefully in 2024, we can expect more music.

off the menu is a South Korean band based in Seoul. They debuted on February 19th, 2021 with off the menu which included the singles “The Wall” and “달력 (Calendar)”. Both of these songs were pre-release tracks for their debut EP Contact which came out on January 20th, 2020.
In November 2020, they released a triple single EP titled Soft bench which includes the songs “사랑에 대하여 (About love)”, “Soft bench” with SFC.JGR and “Breakfast – 2020 remastered”. “사랑에 대하여 (About love)” is their most popular song with over 1.4 million streams on Spotify.
off the menu released a few singles throughout 2021 and 2022. In 2023, they released the single “The Void” in April. This single was a pre-release track for their debut album Every Point of View which came out on October 11th. Our favourite song on the album is titled “Silhouette”.
