KATHERINE LI PUTS EVERYONE IN THEIR FEELS AT HER HEADLINE SHOW IN TORONTO

On March 8th, 2024, Chinese-Canadian singer Katherine Li headlined at Velvet Underground in her hometown Toronto. She also had Toronto based artist Jenna Doe join her as an opener. Toronto was the third stop on her “love, k” mini tour. Fans lined up as early as 4 PM and the line was more than a block down the street when the doors opened at 7 PM.

The concert started off at 8:00PM with a performance by Toronto based indie-pop singer Jenna Doe. They performed their hit song and our personal favourite song “Pink Slips” which has over 9 million streams on Spotify. Jenna also performed a cover of “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheetus which was so nostalgic to us and we enjoyed their cover so much.

We actually saw Jenna Doe perform for the first time at School Night Toronto in January 2023 which Katherine actually performed at as well. A year later, Jenna is opening for Katherine. Jenna’s stage presence is so fun and the commentary they had between each song was so relatable and engaging.

Jenna performed their upcoming song “Call Me Back” which drops on March 15th. The song was so good and we cannot wait to have it on repeat one it drops. Make sure to pre-save the song so you are notified when it drops.

Katherine Li came on stage at 9 PM opening with one of her hit songs “If I Weren’t Me” which is a track on her latest album love, k. Katherine is so beautiful and sweet – her stage presence is very calming and precious. She was so engaging with the crowd especially when she asked fans about their crushes. Her reactions to these stories were so genuine and also it was so cute to see how smiley she was when fans would scream her lyrics back to her.

One of our favourite performances was for her hit song “Happening Again”. We got to see her perform this song at School Night last year and since then she has gained so much more confidence on stage. Also to add, Katherine’s vocals are so powerful.

Another personal favourite performance was for “Isn’t It Obvious”. This song is so relatable and it definitely had us and others in their feels. Katherine’s songs is literally like she took our diary entries about our crushes and turned it into a song because every song of hers is so relatable. Katherine is for the hopeless romantics.

Katherine also did a cover of Rihanna’s “Stay” which had us internally sobbing. As well, she performed an unreleased song called “Misbehave”. This song is so angsty and a different vibe from her current music, but she can perform any genre and it would still be amazing. We are so excited for this song to release.

Overall, Katherine is an amazing performer and we want to see her again. She also is so sweet and friendly. This concert happened on International Women’s Day and we loved spending it with a woman like Katherine who is so inspiring, talented and relatable.
