LYLE KAM PERFORMS AT SOLD OUT SHOW IN TORONTO WITH PREEYUHN AND SHAE
BY BRENESSA ROACH | JANUARY 22, 2024
On January 19th, 2024, Toronto based indie-pop artist Lyle Kam performed at his sold out show at the Drake Underground in Toronto to celebrate the release of his EP from August 2023, and also perform a few fan favourites. Additionally, there were opening performances from Toronto artists PREEYUHN and shae.
The concert started off at 7:30PM with PREEYUHN who had such a sweet and energetic stage presence. His music definitely amped up the crowd as he blends multiple genres together to create such a unique sound. Our personal favourite performance was for the song “” which was the first song we ever heard of PREEYUHN’s. This was our first time seeing PREEYUHN and hopefully we can see him more. We cannot wait to see what the rest of 2024 holds for him and cannot wait to see him grow.

Next up was shae and she was amazing! This was her first ever performance and despite her saying she was nervous, you couldn’t tell. Her stage presence was so bubbly and sweet. She was so engaging with the crowd, especially the two fans at barricade who were holding up their phones with sweet messages to her. The crowd favourite was her performance of her hit song ”” with . This performance was super special because WIMY actually joined her on stage for his verse. shae also did a cover of ’s song “”. shae ended her set with a performance of an unreleased song and we just cannot wait for this to come out.

Lyle Kam came on stage and started off the night with his song “breathe” which is one of our favourites (we have a lot of favourites). Seeing Lyle Kam live for the first time was amazing. His stage presence is wonderful and he is so incredibly talented from his vocals to his guitar playing. We have a very soft spot for Ed Sheeran and his loop pedal so we were very touched to see Lyle bring out a loop pedal.
Lyle is an incredible performer whether it is for his own song or when he covered “Breathe” by Lauv and “Give Me Love” by Ed Sheeran. Lyle was also super engaging with the crowd having us sing parts of his song and he even split up half the venue so one side sang a low harmony and the other sang a high harmony. Not only did Lyle have the audience dancing, but also had the audience in their feels – especially when he sang his song “fine” off his EP pov:.
We are huge fans of Lyle’s music in general, but our all time favourite song probably is “internet crush” which Lyle actually performed at this show. It was amazing live and we actually loved how it was a bit slower in person than the Spotify version.
Overall, it was such an amazing night not only as a listener, but as an industry person. So many industry people and friends came out to support Lyle and it was just wonderful to be able to be in that kind of loving and supportive environment.
We cannot wait to see what 2024 holds for Lyle and hopefully we can see him perform more in the future.
Special thanks to Lyle Kam for providing us with a media pass!
