On May 17th, 2024, Toronto based singer, songwriter and producer ming debuted with the single “Love Again”. At the age of 12, ming started playing around with GarageBand loops which has now lead him to spearhead many projects for other songwriters and producers. As well, for the last 4 years, he has been performing as Kennen. Now debuting as ming, he says, “I wanted to grow beyond the indie pop songs I had out, most of which I wrote as a teenager.”

“Love Again” is an Indie-R&B track influenced by HYBS. Featuring ming’s beautiful and warm vocals, the heartfelt lyrics are deeply relatable and evoke strong emotions. ming says, “[this song] is about wanting another chance with the one that got away. Sometimes, I wonder if I had valued what we had more, and maybe things would’ve played out differently. I don’t know if I’ll ever truly get a second chance, but these are some of the things I wish I could say to them.”

Production wise, we were very curious how ming produced this song and he gave us some insight. He says, “I got an amazing beat from my good friend Kyden Flint — who I’ve previously collaborated with, including for our R&B band project, Vibewitu. Then, I fleshed it out and wrote the topline over it. It came super quickly. Finally, I asked Dingani to throw in some backing vocals, because his layering arrangements are best in the game in the Toronto scene. As with most of my projects, I was also the recording, mixing, and mastering engineer.”
