R&B ARTISTS YOU NEED IN YOUR LIFE PT. 2

We are back with another article highlighting R&B artists that you need in your life! If you haven’t read the first part, read it here. Just like last time, all artists mentioned range from below 100K monthly listeners on Spotify to over 1 million, but you might not know these artists so hopefully you gain a new artist to add to your playlist!
Let’s get started…
Ro, known by his artist name 8RO8 is a rapper and singer from Hawaii. He infuses rap/hip-hop with R&B and we think his music is really unique. He currently has around 64.3K monthly listeners on Spotify so, he definitely deserves more listeners. He made his debut on January 4th, 2019 with the single “London Tipton” which was a collaboration with Tino. He released a lot of singles throughout 2019 and released his debut album Haole on August 2nd, 2020.
On December 1st, 2021, he released his EP podagee luv which features his most popular song “speed limit”. This song is in collaboration with YOREN! and Future James and has over 538K streams on Spotify. His second most popular song with over 300K streams is “Townies” which came out on February 10th, 2023. This is the song that got us listening to 8RO8 thanks to Roc Lee of CLUB BOYBND’s playlist.
8RO8’s latest single “Picko Mango” is from July 28th and we absolutely love it! We cannot wait to hear what other songs he has planned for the future.

JAHKOY is a singer and songwriter from Toronto, Canada with over 257K monthly listeners on Spotify. He made his debut on July 29th, 2014 with the single “Poison” which has over 2.4 million streams on Spotify. On October 28th, 2016, he released his debut album Foreign Water which includes the single “California Heaven”. This song is in collaboration with ScHoolboy Q and has over 13.4 million streams on Spotify. JAHKOY co-wrote “What About Me” with Lil Wayne for his album Carter V which released in September 2018. Additionally, JAHKOY has toured with Chainsmokers, Kehlani, Tinashe and The Neighbourhood. JAHKOY has released a lot of singles every year.
On February 3rd, 2023, he released the single “Loving Game” which was a pre-release track for his album Healing Phase which came out on February 22nd. Followed by that album, he released the single “Man on Fire” on June 14th. This is one of our favourite songs of his. This song was a pre-release track for his latest release which is the album Pretty Conversation which dropped earlier this week on September 5th.

Kaylee Ameri is a singer-songwriter based out of Newark, New Jersey with a little over 16.6K listeners on Spotify. She debuted on August 17th, 2018 with her debut album Corduroy. She released quite a few singles after her debut album and then released her second album Safe & Secure on February 23rd, 2020. This album includes one of her popular songs “Lonely” which has almost 71K streams on Spotify. Followed by that album, she released the single “Babyblue” in April and this is her second most popular song with over 102K streams on Spotify.
On August 16th, 2020, she released the single “Give It Up”. Since then, it has become her hit song with over 1.5 million streams. Kaylee released a lot of singles throughout 2021 and 2022.
Her first release of 2023 was on March 9th for the single “ATTACHED”. Followed by that, she released “REASON” in June and her latest release “twentyfour_hours” is from July 21st.

Luisa Wilson is an artist who blends R&B with Pop, Soul Pop, Jazz and Indie music. She currently has around 18K monthly listeners on Spotify. She debuted on January 28th, 2022 with the single “Make Me Like It” and “Staring at the Sun”. On July 29th, 2022, she released the single “Miss Understood” which is her third most popular single with a little over 3K streams on Spotify. In November, she released the single “Alone In The Night” and ending the year off with a cover of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”.
Her first single of 2023 “Feline” released on January 26th. Her latest release “Love for Her” is from August 11th. This is our favourite song of hers and it’s also her most popular song with almost 100K streams on Spotify.

DCMBR is an artist that blends R&B, Soul and Electronic Dance music. He has over 178K listeners on Spotify. He made his debut on August 16th, 2016 with the album Dimentique Summer Essentials 2016 which was in collaboration with Senor Prezidente and Lucas Tesselhoff. His official solo debut was on June 29th, 2017 with the single “World”.
Followed by the release of “World”, DCMBR released the single “Afraid” on July 11th, 2017 which was a collaboration with Mozzy. This single is his second most popular song with over 10.3 million streams on Spotify. His most popular song with over 34 million streams on Spotify is “Excuse Me”. This single is a collaboration with Too $hort, Mozzy and Yhung T.O and is the last track on Mozzy and Yhung T.O’s EP Legendary Gangland. In January 2018, DCMBR released his debut EP 16 / 94.
We recently discovered DCMBR through his single “HEALING” which is his latest release from June 29th of this year.

BLK is a Toronto-based trio consisting of Bexk, Lilac X and Khatalia-Korahjay. The trio currently has around 21K monthly listeners on Spotify. They debuted on June 11th, 2020 with their debut EP Got It which consisted of various versions of the single “Got It”. This single has over 1.8 million streams.
On April 30th, 2021, they released the single “FWM” which is our personal favourite song of theirs. It is also their second most popular song with over 415K streams on Spotify. On August 24th, 2021, they released their second EP Girl Magic.
Unfortunately, their latest release “Let Me Love You” is from September 2021, but we hope that they will eventually release new music in the future.
