RICCY DELEON & THE VALLEYBOIS HEADLINE AT EL CID IN LOS ANGELES

On April 25th, 2024, California based Alternative-Hip-Hop singer and songwriter Riccy DeLeon performed with his band The Valleybois at El Cid in Los Angeles. The Valleybois consists of members; atlou (pianist/trumpet player), Gelo (bassist), Colton (guitarist) and Amin (drummer).

The night started off at 7 PM with opening performances by Manisha Wanniappa, sandalwood (Nicholas LaDue) and Black From Home.

Manisha Wanniappa started the night off with her set and it was beautiful. She has a very indie-pop style and it’s so beautiful. Her lyricism hits you right in the feels as well. She did a lot of original songs and some Taylor Swift covers as well – which was our favourite performance as we could sing along. Manisha’s stage presence was wonderful and she has such a sweet energy.

sandalwood came out next and performed with his band! His set was really cool and we loved the indie/alternative-rock/pop genre! The live band sounded great as well and sandalwood had a great stage presence.

Black From Home was the last opening act and they were amazing. Black From Home is a Hip-Hop duo consisting of Chaseedaw and Daniel Alexandre. For their set, they had a live band who completed the whole entire set. Chaseedaw and Daniel Alexandre’s vocals are so beautiful and they mesh well together. They also have a really cool style as they mix elements of Jazz and Rap into their music.

Riccy DeLeon started his set around 9:45 opening with his song “Personally” which is on his latest EP Spotless Mind that came out on April 2nd. For more information behind the song and EP, read our interview with Riccy. Followed by “Personally”, Riccy performed the song “Jean Jacket” which is track on his album Die Right Now from February 13th.

Going into this show, we did not know what to expect and what the setlist would be like, but it did not disappoint. Despite Riccy being nervous before and during his performance, he did an amazing job and The Valleybois really makes the performances come to life. We especially loved whenever Atlou played the trumpet.

One of our personal favourite performances was for the song “Limbo” which is also on his album Die Right Now. We happen to be in LA during this concert, but we really hope we can see Riccy DeLeon and The Valleybois again in the future. We also cannot wait to see their growth on and off stage.
