In this blog, we are going to share 5 Rising Asian bands that currently have below 100K monthly listeners on Spotify. The bands in this article are mainly Indie-Rock and all the bands are from different parts of Asia.

Current Monthly Listeners: 12.2K

Crinkle Cut is a quartet from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The band formed in 2011 and consists of; Frances Thomas Tsen (vocalist), Melissa Sasa (guitarist), Grace Foo (keyboardist) and Ashley Choong (percussionist).

They debuted on January 26th, 2018 with the single “Where Are You Now?” which was the pre-release track for their debut EP b_tt_rsw__t which was released the next day on January 27th. On August 14th, 2020, they released their first album Sweet Nothings. This is a 9 song album and includes the song “Sweet Nothings” which is one of their most popular songs with 77K streams.

A year later in August 2021, Crinkle Cut released the single “Caught Up In Your Head”. This song is their most popular song with over 280K streams on Spotify. This is also the song that allowed us to discover Crinkle Cut.

Their latest single “Freeway” is from October 21st, 2022 and this is their second most popular song with a little over 150K streams.

Dasutt on the cover of Rising Asian Bands | 100K AND BELOW

Current Monthly Listeners: 59.5K

Dasutt is an indie band from South Korea consisting of; Riwoo (vocalist/guitarist), Yongchul (guitarist), Minhyun (bassist) and Kyungjun (drummer). The band debuted on November 15th, 2016 with the single “나의 그 때”(Translation: Back Then). On June 22nd, 2017, they released their debut EP 漠 Mak.

In March 2018, they released the single “Lunch Time” – which is one of their most popular songs with a little over 1.9 million streams on Spotify. This song was a pre-release track for their second EP YOUTH. This is a 6 song EP and includes their hit song “Youth” which has over 3.6 million streams.

From 2020 to 2022, Dasutt didn’t release any new music. However, they returned on March 30th, of this year with the single “I really hope I arrive there safe”.

Krr on the cover of Rising Asian Bands | 100K AND BELOW

Current Monthly Listeners: 64.9K

Krr is a South Korean pop style band consisting of Seo Young-joon, Park Min-young, Jung Seok-won and Park Byung-seok. They made their debut on January 3rd, 2017 with their debut single “Big Wave”. They released a few singles throughout the rest of 2017 and 2018.

On November 24th, 2019, they released the single “Night within you” – which is one of their most popular songs with a little over 650K streams. Their hit song with over 2 million streams “Moving” came out on June 14th, 2020.

They continued to release music after “Moving” and their latest release is from January 8th of this year and it’s their first EP titled Daydreaming.

wigglye is an Indie-Pop/Alternative band from Bandung, Indonesia formed in January 2023. The band consists of three members; Dery Al Nursyaid (vocalist and guitarist), Stefanus Joseph (backing vocalist and lead guitarist) and Tionie Achmad Rizal(drummer). The name “wigglye” is a wordplay for the word “ugly”. As a band, they believe their work could turn something “ugly” into beautiful words.

They debuted on March 31st, 2023 with their debut single “To The Moon”. Their latest release is “Raindrops” and it’s from May 15th, 2023. Although they only have 2 songs out at the moment, they are working on more and we think they have a lot of potential to grow in listeners.

Swastik The Band on the cover of Rising Asian Bands | 100K AND BELOW

Current Monthly Listeners: 38.8K

Swastik The Band is a band based in Chandigarh, India that was founded in 2011 by Rohit Joshi (lead guitarist and songwriter). The band consists of members; Rohit Joshi, Karnan Verma (vocalist), Pankaj Verma (bassist), Rahul Bhatt (percussionist) Bharat (flute player) and Avneesh Sharma (bassist). Their musical genre is primarily rock, but they have taken influences from Indian Folk and Sufi and add it to western rhythms.

They released their debut album Avasa on August 5th, 2018. This is a 6 song album and consists of their hit song “Jogi” – which has garnered over 1.8 million streams on Spotify.

On November 29th, 2022, they released the single “Keh Do Na” which is how we discovered them. Their latest release “Nadiya” is from June 2nd of this year.
