In this article, we will share 6 Singaporean artists that have been in our radar and we want to share them with you all in hopes that you will find yourself supporting and loving them as much as we do! Each artist has a unique sound and genre, so hopefully at least one song will stand out for you!

Bernice Ong is a singer and songwriter who blends folk-pop, soul and R&B to create a unique sound. She debuted on February 5th, 2021 with the single “What Loving Means” which was a collaboration with fellow Singaporean artist GARETH FERNANDEZ. Followed by her debut, she released the singles “If I Wrote You A Letter” and “Better At Hellos” on July 30th, 2021.
In June 2022, she released a three track EP Gold which included the songs “Gold”, “Love You Less” and “Selah”. Her latest release is “Ocean Room” which came out on October 27th of this year. Bernice has beautiful vocals and mixed with her blend of genres, it creates a really unique sound.

Gen Neo is a singer, songwriter, producer and composer based in South Korea. He has produced and composed for K-Pop artists like SUPER JUNIOR, f(x) and ENHYPEN.
He debuted on April 6th, 2015 with the single “Think About Us”. In is early days, he made a lot of MandoPop music. He released his debut EP 心領域 (Dimensions) on July 31st, 2017. On September 24th, 2018, he released the single “從今以後” (From Now On). This is one of his popular singles with over 2 million streams on Spotify.
Gen Neo has released music throughout the years and has always had a good amount of streams. On May 31st, 2023, he released the single “Called it Love” which is how we discovered him. This is his most popular song with over 2.6 million streams on Spotify. In July, he released “Losing Game” which garnered over 1.2 million streams. His latest release is “Stay” which came out on September 15th.

hongjoin is a singer, songwriter and producer who is currently based in Boston, United States. He debuted on August 28th, 2021 with the single “The Last Time”. On August 26th, 2022, hongjoin released his debut album Petrichor which consists of 9 tracks.
hongjoin released his first single of 2023 on February 3rd titled “You’re My Everything”. This single was a pre-release track or his second album F(OOL) which came out on June 9th. His latest release from September is with RENE for the song “we grew up together”. This is one of our favourite songs from hongjoin’s discography.

LAYYI is an R&B/Neo-Soul and pop singer and songwriter. She was a part of the pop trio HE1ST and debuted in 2020 with the single “Shape of Your Love”. As a soloist, she debuted on May 7th, 2021 with the single “Hey Love”. This single garnered over 1.2 million streams on Spotify, making it her most popular song so far.
In 2022, she released one single “lonely” in April. Her first single of 2023 is “Superhuman” which came out on February 17th. She released “m00d” in August, followed by “homebody” with YAØ in September. Both these singles were pre-release tracks for her debut EP homebody which released on October 27th.

Josh Makazo is a contemporary R&B singer, songwriter and producer. He debuted on March 6th, 2020 at the age of 17 with the single “Awhile”. Followed by that single, he released “Saga” on March 27th. In 2021, he released one single “Team V2” in February. In March 2022, he released three singles “NEVER”, “SNOW” and “FOCUS”.
In 2023, he has been the most active so far, starting the year with the release of “MIDNIGHT PSYCHO” in February. On June 30th, he released the single “half of my heart” which has garnered over 4.1 million streams on Spotify. This single is his most popular song.
His latest release is “i just want to hear your voice” which came out on September 15th.

YAØ is a singer-songwriter and producer in the pop genre. YAØ is an artist who mixes elements of Lo-Fi Japanese style pop with R&B. He debuted on July 12th, 2018 with the single “No Stress” which was in collaboration with AE$OP CA$H. On September 28th, 2018, he released the single “Scenery” which is his most popular song with over 4.2 million streams on Spotify alone.
In October 2019, he released his debut EP Love & City Lights followed by the release of his single “Moonlight” in March 2020. This single is another one of his popular songs with over 2 million streams.
In 2021, YAØ signed to Universal Music Singapore and released the single “I Can’t Sleep” on May 14th. In July 2022, he released his first album Broke Pop Kids which featured “I Can’t Sleep”.
His first release of 2023 was in July with the single “For No reason”. His latest single “Hostage” was released on September 29th.
