On February 23rd, 2024 at midnight, Los Angeles based boy band Townewest released their second single of 2024 titled “energy gave me a chance” featuring Riccy DeLeon. “energy gave me a chance” is a Hip-Hop song written and produced by Townewest member Bouquet.

Sonically, Bouquet wanted something with more bounce and wanted to write about a song that could use the idea of energy giving meaning to even the production. Bouquet did a beat switch to keep a good energy flowing and also intended for someone else to hop on it and flow with him.

Lyrically, Bouquet says, “The song is about going thru my life as cool and calm as possible and how I’m gonna let go of the bad energy and embrace the good energy around me and also extend that to my friends and lover.” Riccy adds, “a stream of consciousness where I reflect on wanting to fly away from where I am right now, but realizing I gotta wake up from my bad habits in order to see actual change. And as much as I want someone to save me I’m gonna have to understand the process begins with me.”

With the release of “energy gave me a chance”, this is Townewest’s pivot into music they appreciate and love.
