Welcome to our first blog in the “Behind The Beat Spotlight” series. Each month we will be highlighting one music industry person that we loved or want to bring more love to them. This series will highlight artists, producers, photographers, A&R’s – whoever in the music industry that we feel impacts us during that month. These blogs will be posted on the third week (or second last week) of each month!

This first blog will be about South Korean-Canadian singer and songwriter shae who is under the Canadian collective BAD KIDS. shae debuted last year on June 16th with the single “SIMPLE”. Since then, we have featured her on our blog and even included her in our 24 Artists To Listen To In 2024 article. After her debut, she teased her next song “Anybody” with WIMY and released in August. Since then, she has blown up and this song has garnered over 6.4 million streams on Spotify alone and has been featured in multiple Spotify curated playlists in different parts of Asia.

We decided to feature shae this month because not only is she going to take over 2024 with amazing songs, but she also just performed this month for the very first time in Toronto at Lyle Kam’s sold out headline show. Despite this show being her first one ever, shae was so engaging with the crowd and so bubbly. Her fast growth after her debut just shows that she has so much potential and we definitely think this year will be a huge year for her.
