SOUTH ASIAN ARTISTS TO LISTEN TO

There are so many talented South Asian artists that do not get enough recognition and even if they do, they deserve more listeners. We recently spent a few hours searching for South Asian artists that we really vibed with and the list was huge, so you can definitely expect another part in the future.
In this article, we will share 6 South Asian artists from different parts of the world, making music in different genres and languages. We hope you love these artists as much as we loved them!
ASHWARYA is an Indian-Australian R&B/Pop singer with around 41.9K monthly listeners on Spotify. She released her first single “PSYCHO HOLE” on July 2nd, 2020. Followed by her debut, she released “BIRYANI” in September 2020 and “COMIN@ME” in October 2020.
In April 2021, she released “TO THE NIGHT” which featured VIC MENSA. Following that single, she released “FLARE” on September 30th, 2021. This was the single that introduced us to her music and is our favourite song of hers. It also is her most popular song with over 2.6 million streams on Spotify. ASHWARYA ended 2021 with the release of her debut EP NOCTURNAL HOURS.
In 2022, she released only one single titled “Can’t Relate”. In 2023, she released a few singles which were part of her second EP Why’s It Gotta Hurt – which is also her latest release.

Last Minute India is a Hindi Pop and Alternative Rock band based in Mumbai, India with around 42K monthly listeners. The band consists of 6 members; Subodh Gupta (Songwriter/Bassist), Austin Furtado (Lead Guitarist), Abdul Sheikh (Vocalist), Bhumit Gor (Guitarist) and Yash Khona (Drums).
They debuted on January 20th, 2018 with the single “Nadaan”. In August 2019, they released their second single “Aao Na”. They didn’t release any music throughout 2020 and came back in 2021 with the single “Kaagaz Ki Naav”. This is their most popular song with over 2 million streams on Spotify alone. Their second most popular song with 1.4 million streams is “Rehnuma” which was their last release in 2021.
On April 10th, 2022, they released the single “Yaadein”. Their latest release is “Jaane Anjaane” is from July 13th, 2023. This is the song we discovered them by as it’s featured in Spotify curated playlists such as; RADAR India and hIndies.
Hopefully, we get some new music this year from Last Minute India.

SANJ is an Indian-American singer born in Chicago and based in NYC. She currently has around 14K monthly listeners and is known for her sultry Desi-R&B style. She debuted on January 25th, 2018 with the single “Unlucky”. Followed by her debut, she released “Friday Night” in February 2019 and “I’d Go Back” in February 2020.
On August 6th, 2020 SANJ released her debut EP At Dusk which includes the single “Press Me” – which is the song we discovered her by recently. This EP also includes her most popular song “Cloudmind” which has 138K streams on Spotify. One year later, she released her second EP Poster Child.
She did not release any music in 2022 and came back on February 10th, 2023 with the release of her single “Devil’s in the Details”. This track is one of the songs included on her latest release from February 2023 which is her debut album Nightingale. Hopefully, SANJ releases some new music soon!

PREEYUHN is a Tamil-Canadian artist from Toronto, Canada with around 775 monthly listeners on Spotify. He made his debut on December 11th, 2020 with i which included the singles “eden” and “preeyuhn”.
His next release was in May 2022 for the single “Drumroll” which was a collaboration with divvy! and Abhi The Nomad. Followed by that single, he released “tuff” in October 2022. On February 10th, 2023, he released the song “if you ever left”. This is our favourite song and also the song we first heard of PREEYUHN’s thanks to Lyle Kam sharing it on his story. His latest release “LUCY” is from November 2023 and it’s a collaboration with Shaky and Ami.
So far for 2024, PREEYUHN has not released any music, but he was the opening act for Lyle Kam’s show on January 19th which we did a press coverage for. PREEYUHN is so talented and e cannot wait to see what the future holds for him.

divvy! is a singer from Toronto with around 7.8K monthly listeners on Spotify. He released his first single “one on one” on July 17th, 2020. This single was a pre-release track for his debut EP carnival! which came out on August 28th, 2020. His last release of 2020 was in October for the single “get u”.
On April 16th, 2021, divvy! collaborated with OhGodDC! for the single “on my mind”. In February 2022, he released “1000%” followed by “Drumroll” with PREEYUHN and Abhi The Nomad in May and “shawdy!” in August.
In 2023, divvy! collaborated with Faaris for the single “oath” which came out on March 3rd. He also collaborated with Keralanka for the single “LEAN LEFT” which came out in July.
As for 2024, divvy! has one collaboration song out titled “Batman & Robin (Remix)” with Louis Futon and Molly Moore.

Ramil Ganjoo is an independent artist from Mumbai with around 42.2K monthly listeners on Spotify. He released his first single “Phir Kabhi” on June 19th, 2020. Followed by his debut, he released his debut EP Phir Kabhi in July. In October 2020, he released “Dhundo Mujhe” and then “Daastaan” in November. “Daastaan” is his most popular song with over 1.1 million streams on Spotify.
On July 26th, 2021, he released “Gulmohar” which is the song we discovered him by. Following that single, he released “Bhoola na tujhe” on November 10th, 2021 – which is another song with over 1 million streams on Spotify. Both of these singles were tracks on his second EP Gulmohar which released on December 10th, 2021.
In 2022, he released two songs; “Dariya” in May and “Soch” with Sanchi in November. In 2023, he released a few singles which were featured on his first album Khaak which came out on June 10th, 2023. So far for 2024, Ramil has released one song “Ek Roz” which is a collaboration with Avanti Singh.
